An overnight cruise in Halong Bay, mid-tier operator, £525 for two. The kayak hour through the limestone karsts at sunset was the best part. The cabin was hotel-quality. The food was fine. The water was murky. Halong runs at three price tiers: £50 day trips from Cat Ba Island, mid-tier overnights at £400 to £600, and genuine luxury at £900 and up. The middle band is the worst-value tier.
